SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Minnehaha County has distributed nearly $400,000 so far to residents facing economic hardships from COVID-19.
County Commissioner Cindy Heiberger praises the community for thinking ahead to create the One Sioux Falls Fund. The Fund was created months ago in anticipation of the need.
“And that’s out this fund was established and I just give high praise to the people who were thinking forward and who gave that money to help people out.”
Heiberger points out that donations created the fund, not tax dollars.
The One Sioux Falls Fund helps eligible people with housing and other needs caused by the challenges of the pandemic.
And now $10 million in CARES Act money has been set aside by the State of South Dakota to help individuals in similar situations around the state.
