SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls Police arrived on scene first and confirmed smoke coming from the roof of a single-family home. The first arriving fire unit made contact with an occupant and confirmed everyone was able to self-evacuate prior to emergency services arrival. The firefighters made their way to the second floor of the story-and-a-half home and had to remove ceiling material to access the fire. The main body of the fire was under control within ten minutes of fire units arriving on the scene. The fire was contained to the attic area, however, there was moderate smoke damage throughout the second floor. Firefighters utilized a sewer vacuum truck to remove attic insulation to complete the overhaul of the fire. There were no injuries reported from either occupants or responders. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
