SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Lock your vehicle!
That’s the advice from the Sioux Falls Police Department.
They say vehicle thefts for October have already outpaced September.
There have been 89 thefts this month compared to 85 last month.
Police say it isn’t hotwire experts pinching cars.
They say motorists make it easy by leaving the keys in unlocked vehicles.
Sgt. Sean Kooistra says the winter months see an increase in thefts as people start their cars, leave them running, then go inside.
Koositra suggests using your key fob to lock your doors after you start your car or get a second key.
