PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) โ With a huge explosion that stretched from shoreline to shoreline, the steel girders of the John C. Waldron Memorial Bridge over the Missouri River between Pierre and Fort Pierre came down this morning. Officials closed off a one-thousand foot safety perimeter and stopped traffic over the new bridge for a half-hour during the operation. Some people said they could feel and hear the explosion from up to six miles away.
