PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — He’s offering hints – but no details yet. Governor Larry Rhoden says his office is working on a plan to generate more revenue for the state. At a news conference Thursday afternoon, the Governor offered the hint that it’s an alternative funding source, but so far, he isn’t saying what that source is. A legislative task force will spend the interim months working on property tax proposals to provide relief for property owners who’ve seen assessments and taxes rise sharply in recent years. Governor Rhoden says he will present his ideas to that task force in coming days. In the meantime, he says city, county and school taxing districts will also have to look for ways to cut spending.
