PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — They’re hoping for the Governor’s signature to ease a childcare crisis in South Dakota. South Dakota House Minority Leader Erin Healy sponsored a bill to make childcare workers eligible for childcare assistance payments. She believes it would help overcome a shortage of childcare workers in the state. A recent study showed that nearly 40-percent of the state’s childcare programs operate below capacity due to a lack of workers.
