HARRISBURG, S.D. (KELO.com) — The neighbors got involved confronting an armed man they discovered trying to steal cars just west of Harrisburg Wednesday morning.
The Lincoln County Sherriff’s Office says he started shooting and ran to the back of a nearby home where he kept shooting, even firing at a homeowner.
Thankfully, nobody was hurt.
Authorities used a drone to help find the suspect, hiding in some tall grass near Harrisburg.
Jailed is Colton Nichols, 21, of Sioux Falls. Officers found the gun and well as other pieces of evidence in the grass.
Multiple agencies were involved in this situation, including Canton PD, Tea PD, Lennox PD, South Dakota Highway Patrol & K-9, South Dakota DCI, Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, Sioux Falls Police Department & K-9, South Dakota Game Fish & Parks and Lincoln County Emergency Management.
