SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Minnehaha County Auditor Bob Litz is warning voters that if they are mailing absentee ballots for the November election to mail them as soon as possible.
Litz tells the county commission that he has been having problems with mail deliveries, even having to send out duplicate ballots.
“If you are within ten days of the election, and you have something you’ve got to get to us, you better use the Pony Express, or come on down here, or do something besides the mail.”
You can always hand-carry your absentee ballot or drop it in a box.
Litz expects a historic flood of absentee ballots. His office has already received well over 27,000 ballots, and the November 3 election is still weeks away.
In anticipation of the massive numbers of absentee votes, Litz says he will have hundreds of staffers working in shifts, but it still could be a couple of days after November 3 for full results.
