SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) —
A late-night confrontation with police has left one man dead in Sioux Falls.
On Friday night at 11:09 p.m., Sioux Falls Police were called to an apartment building in the 700 block of North Elmwood Avenue for a person that was refusing to leave.
Two officers arrived for the call.
After the first officer entered the building, the subject of the call began shooting a gun at the officer.
The second officer fired his service weapon at the suspect.
The suspect was pronounced dead on scene.
The first officer received minor injuries but did not require medical attention.
The suspect’s identity has not yet been confirmed.
The Sioux Falls Police officers will be placed on Administrative Leave, in accordance with police policy.
Sioux Falls Police Chief Matt Burns requested the Division of Criminal Investigation investigate this shooting.
