SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Thanks to the Chinese ring-necked pheasant, this is a big week in South Dakota and Sioux Falls.
The Sioux Falls Regional Airport will be busy.
Experience Sioux Falls’ Teri Schmidt says like most years, her visitors’ bureau and other vendors will be in the lobby of the airport welcoming hunters Thursday and Friday–but without coffee and cookies. That’s one of the sacrifices to safety during the age of the coronavirus.
But, she says, the popular “hunter mugs” will still be available, along with other non-food items.
Schmidt also says the state’s hunting lodges saw a drop in reservations but now many are full or close to full as hunter reevaluated their plans in light of COVID-19.
The regular pheasant hunting season starts Saturday.
Schmidt appeared this Monday morning on KELO Radio’s It’s Your Business will Bill Zortman.
