SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — It’s pedal to the metal through the finish line for Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken as he casts a vision for the final 16 months he’ll be in office. At a news conference Thursday morning, the Mayor says he’ll be focused on three main areas, starting with public safety.
The mayor says the city is working on plans for a new fire station on the city’s north side. There will also be a heavy focus water and waste water development so the city will continue to attract new development. On that subject, the city just pushed through the one-billion dollar mark for construction permits in 2024. Planning and Development Director Kevin Smith the success is adding up.
Next year will be filled with several major road construction projects. That includes two on Veterans Parkway – one of which will become the state’s largest intersection at Arrowhead Parkway, another diverging diamond interchange at I-29 and 85th, and the two-year reconstruction project of I-229 and Cliff.
