SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — A well-timed gift to make sure students don’t go hungry. Sioux Falls businessmen Jesse Severson and Mark Fonder, who manage and own the Barrel House and kRav’N restaurants, have been helping the school district feed children whose families have a hard time paying for school meals. Severson says children have a hard time learning if they’re hungry.
Severson and Fonder started the Hungry Hearts non-profit several years ago when they heard the district couldn’t afford to continue feeding students who had unpaid school lunch debt.
