PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — South Dakota’s Republican legislative leadership panel is moving to the right. Jon Hansen of Dell Rapids was elected House Speaker, while Senator-elect Chris Karr of SIoux Falls will serve as President pro-tempore in the Senate. Hansen was co-leader of the Life Defense Fund, which successfully fought to defeat Amendment G on abortion. Meanwhile, two Democrats from the same legislative district will lead their party for the next two years. Representative Erin Healy was elected as House Minority leader, while Liz Larson will lead Senate Democrats. Both are from District 10 in Sioux Falls.
