SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — There’s a lot of money on hand for South Dakota’s Congressional leaders.
South Dakota Newswatch is reporting that Senator John Thune has about $20 million in his campaign war chest.
He’s not up for re-election until 2028, but is a leading candidate to replace the retiring Mitch McConnell as Senate Majority leader in November.
Congressman Dusty Johnson has $5 million on hand, as he seeks re-election this cycle.
It is speculated that he will run for Governor in 2026, after current Governor Kristi Noem completes her second term.
