WATERTOWN, SD (KELO.com) — South Dakota has a childcare crisis that’s keeping some people out of the work force. The problem is especially severe in the Watertown area, where officials say at least six-hundred childcare spots are needed. Mayor Ried Holien says the childcare shortage puts heavy pressure on employers.
City leaders held a childcare forum in Watertown last night, looking for solutions. So far, state and local officials haven’t come up with any solid plans beyond studying the problem.
