SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — It’s called the “Show Up” campaign, and it’s designed to make exactly that happen in the Sioux Falls School District. It’s a campaign designed in partnership with marketing firms Click Rain and Lemonly. Dr. Jamie Nold of the Sioux Falls School District says kids aren’t the only ones that need to show up.
Attendance has been on a downhill slide for Sioux Falls and schools across the country since COVID struck in 2019. The Sioux Falls District hired Attendance liaison officers at a half-dozen schools last year. Attendance improved in those schools, but Community Relations Coordinator DeeAnn Konrad says even with that, district attendance overall still declined.
Local marketing companies Click Rain and Lemonly turned summer interns loose on the project called “Show Up”, which just went live last week. It includes social media, print, online and billboard messages. Nold says improving attendance will help kids become more successful employees when they’re in the future work force.
