ST. LOUIS, MO (KELO.com) — It’s a last minute legal victory that keeps men out of women and girl’s locker rooms in the region. The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals is blocking the U-S Education Department from forcing states to allow the practice, or be stripped of funding. Attorney General Marty Jackley praises the ruling in the Title IX case.
While the Attorney General praises the ruling, he has a sense of growing frustration with Washington. He says more and more, the states are being called upon to reign in Washington overreach – something he says is the job of Congress.
The 8th U-S Circuit Court of Appeals ruling protects only the states that joined the lawsuit. The rule goes into effect in Minnesota this Thursday, because Minnesota didn’t join the lawsuit to challenge it. Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Arkansas and both Dakotas were part of the lawsuit.
