SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — Many counties across South Dakota are struggling to maintain their roadways, but Minnehaha County Commissioners received some good news on that front this morning. A consultant’s report gives the county good grades on the upkeep of its paved county roads. Assistant County Highway Superintendent Jacob Maras says the county would have to double its pavement maintenance spending to about six-million dollars a year in order to make improvements.
Commissioners were told the maintenance budget would need to increase to about four-million dollars a year in order to maintain paved roads at their current status. Gravel roads were not a part of the study.
