SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls City officials are moving closer to the idea of building a new Convention Center. City Councilors were briefed by consultants on a review and market analysis. John Fleming of Johnson Consulting says the city needs more convention space, and locating in what’s called the Riverline District on the east side of downtown would put convention goers within walking distance of downtown attractions.
City Councilor Curt Soehl likes the “walkability” feature of the Riverline location, but says it presents some concerns.
He’s referring to the Dudley House. The Banquet feeding center is also nearby. Councilors will receive an updated report in about a month.
