SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls City Councilor David Barranco is setting his sites on bigger targets. Cutting taxes and fees is at the heart of his efforts. So far, he’s convinced his colleagues to eliminate fees on bowling and skating. He says the expense required to collect those fees makes them more trouble than they’re worth.
Councilman Barranco has hopes of eliminating similar taxes and fees in the future, and has some ideas in mind. But, he’s not quite ready to reveal them yet.
Barranco is also hoping to make his voice heard on property tax valuations. He says one of the downsides to soaring property values is the impact that has on people living on fixed incomes.
Barranco will testify before a Legislative committee this summer that is reviewing property tax valuations.
