SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls has a lot to celebrate as the tourism industry marks National Travel and Tourism Day today. Experience Sioux Falls CEO Teri Schmidt has been pounding the pavement for years, touting the attractions of the city. Those efforts have paid off, as the area has been the largest tourism draw in the state for the last two years.
Schmidt says visitors may make their initial trip to the area for an event, but new attractions in the city make them want to spend extra time in the city.
New venues will open in the near future, with a number of attractions at the Jacobson Plaza now under construction near Falls Park. With those developments, Schmidt says she expects to see the region’s tourism numbers go even higher in the future.
