(PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — Squeals of protest in Pierre over a ‘hoghoused’ bill on elections. Hoghousing is a term for resurrecting a bill that failed by placing its provisions in another failing bill that hasn’t been killed. Democratic Representative Erin Healy of Sioux Falls says the way that was done on this bill stinks.
House Minority leader Oren Lesmeister says it was an ugly move by Republicans.
The bill that was passed is opposed by some county auditors and the ACLU. In its current form, the bill changes voter registration timelines and requirements.
