PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — A major showdown over Carbon Capture pipelines is headed to the South Dakota House. The State Senate approved what’s called a compromise bill yesterday. It strips local governments of the power to control the location and safety set-back zones around the pipelines, giving that power to the state. It’s sponsored by Senate majority Leader Casey Crabtree.
So far the bill hasn’t been assigned to a specific committee for hearings in the House. Most pipeline bills go through the House Commerce and Energy Committee, which has killed similar proposals in the past.
