SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — All jury trials have been suspended in South Dakota’s Second Judicial Circuit covering Minnehaha and Lincoln Counties because of COVID-19.
It’s because of the increasing number of hospitalized cases in the community.
Jury trials resumed in mid-June when hospitalization rates had been trending downward.
Now they’re trending up again.
A spokesman says that Presiding Judge Robin Houwman will continue to consult with health officials to determine when trials can resume.
