COLMAN, SD (KELO.com) — It appeared to be an intentional act. Attorney General Marty Jackley is prosecuting the case of 40-year old Joseph Hoek of Sioux Falls. Jackley presented evidence against Hook in court Monday morning, charging him with pre-meditated First Degree Murder and Aggravated Eluding. Madison police responded to a call at a home Friday afternoon, and Hoek left the scene at a high rate of speed.
The murder charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison or the death penalty. The Attorney General says another hearing will be held this Friday. Prorok’s funeral has been scheduled for this Thursday.
Meanwhile, Sioux Falls police have named Hoek as the suspect in a case of vandalism that took place earlier on Friday. Sioux Falls Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says 16 cars had their tires slashed on south Minnesota Avenue.
Officer Clemens says five more cars across Minnesota Avenue from that incident also had tires slashed, but so far, no one has been charged with those acts.
