SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — South Dakota retailers will be hoping to make up some lost ground as we enter the all-important Christmas shopping season this week. Creighton University’s Rural Mainstreet Index shows retail sales dropped in this region in October for the first time since March. Economist Ernie Goss say that isn’t a good sign heading into Christmas.
One of the big challenges retailers are facing is a shortage of employees to handle the Christmas rush. State Retail Association head Nathan Sanderson are going to great lengths to make sure they cover all their bases.
Sanderson says a lot of the supply chain issues we had last year have eased, so you should be able to find most of the things you’re looking for this Christmas.
