COLMAN, SD (KELO.com) — Voters in the Colman/Egan School District go to the polls next week to consider a 6.3-million dollar bond issue. Superintendent Scott Hemmer says the school is in the midst of a five-year growth trend, so extra classroom space is needed.
Hemmer says officials have been working on plans for over a year. They scaled back the original proposal as voters made their preferences known.
If it’s approved, the school will also add a weight room and remodel some existing space to make room for Career and Technical education. The project would increase property taxes by about 25-dollars per month for the owner of a 200-thousand dollar home.
