SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Total enrollment in Sioux Falls public schools has unexpectedly declined.
“We projected a slight increase and we’re seeing a slight decrease,” The School District’s Doug Morrison tells the School Board that enrollment in the new school year declined by nearly 200 students.
This is just the initial assessment. A more detailed count will be forthcoming.
Morrison says the decline will have an impact on the budget.
“That difference will make some difference in the funding we received from the state.”
This year’s preliminary enrollment is 25,164. Last school year, total enrollment reached 25,311.
