SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — The debate over a piece of Sioux Falls history is stirring up a bit of a firestorm. Mayor Paul TenHaken says there’s little choice in the proposed decommissioning of the Delbridge Museum of Natural History at the Great Plains Zoo. The collection of African Safari taxidermy contains arsenic…which is known to cause cancer. The mayor explained the actions while calling in to the Greg Belfrage show.
The move to decommission the collection stirred a hornets nest…which includes City Councilor Greg Neitzert. Neitzert and other councilors will have the final say, as they take up the issue next week.
