SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — South Dakota is seeing new cases of bird flu…and more could be on the way. State producers have already destroyed hundreds of thousands of turkeys and chickens because of the sickness. The disease is carried by migratory birds. State Veterinarian Beth Thompson says the migration has been slowed by our lingering winter weather. That means more infections may be coming…
One case was reported in Beadle County, and another in neighboring Dickey County, ND. Thompson says it will be important for producers to follow good bio-security practices to avoid problems.
