SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — City officials, donors, and dozens of dog owners gathered on the corner of 10th st and S 2nd avenue in downtown Sioux Falls for the grand opening of the Kirby Dog Park at Fort Sod.
Amongst the guest was Downtown Sioux Falls Inc. President Joe Batcheller. “We did a pop-up dog park three years ago, we found that it not only brings people in from downtown but beyond,” said Batcheller. ” We saw people coming in from Brandon and Harrisburg. It’s really going to enhance the social aspects of downtown,” he added.
The park is the third formal dog park in the city, construction of the half-acre park began in May as part of the city’s 2020 action plan.
