SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A suspect in a weekend robbery was arrested Monday night by the Sioux Falls Police Department’s SWAT team.
The suspect, 25-year-old Meron Fishaye Berhe, used a gun to rob the One Stop gas station and liquor store, located on the corner of 12th Street and Jefferson Avenue, late Sunday night.
Police say that surveillance footage of the crime helped identify Behre.
Officers then located him Monday evening inside a room at the Delux Hotel near 12th and Willow.
Because a gun was used in the robbery, SWAT was called out to apprehend Behre who had barricaded himself inside.
After negotiating for some time with police, Behre eventually surrendered himself to Police.
It was also revealed that the gun used in the robbery was a BB gun.
Berhe was arrested for 1st Degree Robbery and Aggravated Assault.
Additionally, Behre was previously arrested in 2021 for attempting to burn a pride flag with a lighter in Downtown Sioux Falls.
