SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — It’s the day many have been waiting for. South Dakota’s pheasant hunting season kicked off this morning. South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks reminds most hunting accidents in the state occur while pheasant hunting. Hunters need to be sure they are wearing orange to be visible to others. The National Weather Service says near critical fire danger is expected this afternoon with low humidity and winds. People should use extreme caution with outdoor activities. Report a fire quickly if you see one. The season started at 10:00 this morning. Hunters have until sunset daily to shoot their birds until the season ends on January 31st.
