SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A Sioux Falls Police officer has been hospitalized after being struck by a car driven by a woman the officer was investigating.
The incident began when police were called to the area of 10th and Kiwanis at around 4:30 P.M. on Thursday for a report of a woman trying to sell stolen property.
Once on scene, an Officer approached the woman before she took off on foot and entered a running vehicle while disobeying commands to stop.
The female suspect then reversed the vehicle striking the Officer before fleeing the scene.
Several officers responded and located the suspect vehicle, unoccupied, near 22nd Street and Jefferson Avenue.
Through the assistance of a police K9, two suspects were located hiding in a property near 21st Street and Western Avenue.
26-year-old Jonielle Rose Wells of Aberdeen, and 40-year-old Cheyenne Duan Hawk of Ft. Thompson, were both taken into custody without incident on numerous charges.
The Officer is being treated for injuries at a local hospital.
