SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Kidnapping charges and successful work by the Narcotics Crime Unit were two of the subjects at Friday’s Sioux Falls Police Briefing.
TWO PEOPLE CHARGED WITH KIDNAPPING AND CRUELTY TO A MINOR
Two people were arrested last night and charged with kidnapping and cruelty to a minor among other charges
Last night around 10:30, Sioux Falls Police responded to an apartment complex near 6th Street and Sycamore Avenue where the victim was threatened with a wrench and hand gun for being late with his rent.
Arrested were Joshua Butcher, 25, and Adria Ellsworth, 33, both of Sioux Falls. The two were sub-leasing a room to the victim.
A search warrant was conducted on the resident.
Due to the poor condition of the apartment, and drugs and gun being present, three minor children were taken into custody.
A SEARCH WARRANT BY THE NARCOTICS CRIME UNIT SHOWS WHY THEY WERE CREATED
A search warrant conducted last night by the Sioux Falls Area Drug Task Force serves as an example of why the Narcotics Crime Unit was created.
At 8 pm Thursday evening, the Narcotics Crime Unit investigated in the area of 600 S. Garfield Avenue after receiving numerous Crime Stoppers tips about drug activity from a residence in that area.
Arrested were Gregory Sims, 53, and Timothy Tyree, 40, both of Sioux Falls. Both face numerous drug charges.
The Narcotics Crime Unit was created several years ago to follow up on less severe drug crimes such as this.
