SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The first Tuesday in August is National Night Out, an annual community-building campaign enhancing the relationship between communities and law enforcement. Many law enforcement agencies around the area will be participating in block parties to celebrate.
SIOUX FALLS: Block Party at Lyons Park Tuesday evening from 6 until 8. Phillips Avenue will be closed between 14th and 17th Streets. Bring your lawn chairs and your best potluck dish to pass with your neighbors. Hot dogs will be provided as well as live music. There will also be a Produce Swap, so bring your surplus garden items. Games for the kids too.
HARRISBURG: Block Party from 6:30 to 8:30 Tuesday evening at Hugh Robinson Park. The event includes inflatables, food trucks, prizes, and more. Vouchers will be available for the food trucks.
FLANDREAU: Block Party at the picnic shelter northwest of the swimming pool. Hog dogs and chips will be provided. The dunk tank is back as well. For a nonperishable item or $1 you can dunk Chief Weber and Sheriff Wellman. Night Out starts at 5, free swimming at the pool from 6 until 7.
BROOKINGS: Pioneer Park from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Dunk tank (proceeds going to Brookings Area Christmas Kids and Cops…$2150 raised last year at National Night Out), prizes (including a set of cornhole boards, Yeti cooler pack, and Ring doorbell), inflatables, booths, coloring contest, free hotdogs for the kids, free popcorn and drinks. Law enforcement and first responders from Brookings County as well as the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Game Fish and Parks, and Civil Air Patrol.
