SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — On Sunday, July 17, 2022 at approximately 6:30 pm, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire in the 200 Block of N Grange Ave.
Metro Communications Dispatch indicated that there were reports of a house on fire. The first arriving fire company confirmed fire on the first and second floor of the home and received reports that individuals may still be in the home. Crews began rapidly extinguishing the fire and entered to conduct searches for any potential victims. Fire Crews located and removed one individual while searching inside the home. The individual was then transported to a local hospital. Two other individuals were located outside of the home and transported for treatment.
The main body of fire was extinguished within 20 minutes. Crews remained on scene for several hours to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
There were several civilian injuries and two minor heat related firefighter injuries as a result of the fire.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with nine fire trucks, two support vehicle, two command vehicles, 34 Firefighters, two Battalion Chiefs and three Investigators. The fire is currently under investigation and the home did not have a sprinkler system. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was assisted on scene by PCEMS, Sioux Falls Police Department, Xcel Energy, MidAmerican Energy, and the Red Cross.
