SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Last year, it took Sioux Falls 11 months to set a record of $1 billion in new construction.
This year, it might only take seven months.
The City of Sioux Falls reports that so far in 2022, it has received building permits totaling nearly $869 million dollars as of yesterday (Thursday).
This time last year the City issued over $492 million in building permits.
New commercial developments are the leading indicator for the increase in construction permits.
