SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — After reports of some Minnehaha County voters getting the wrong ballots in Tuesday’s South Dakota primary election (Tu, a Republican candidate for Secretary of State wants to see some changes.
Monae Johnson is seeking the Republican nomination for Secretary of State. She is also a former SOS employee.
Johnson thinks the Secretary of State’s Office should reconstitute training with the county auditors who administer the elections locally.

The incumbent is Republican Steve Barnett.

Several press reports were in the news yesterday about incorrect ballots at polling places and voters given the wrong ballot.
“The issues we have seen emphasize the importance of training for county Auditors, and the need for a proactive Secretary of State.” said Monae Johnson. “The training program by the Secretary of State’s office needs to be reinstituted. Auditors should have someone they can turn to for help, and voters should have a responsive system to deal with their complaints.
