SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Here are some of the highlights of today’s Sioux Falls Police briefing:
DECEASED MISSING MAN FROM WYOMING FOUND NEAR HUMBOLDT
The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Department received a call yesterday morning from Jackson County, Wyoming.
According to Captain Joe Bosman with the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Department, 78-year-old Wesley Guy was missing with medical concerns and was last seen in Buffalo, Wyoming.
Through On-Star tracking, he was put on the very western edge of Minnehaha County by a slough southwest of Humboldt, South Dakota.
Deputies arrived on the scene and located the vehicle unoccupied close to a body of water.
Search efforts with various departments were conducted. Between 6 and 7 p.m. Mr. Guy’s deceased body was found in a field near where the vehicle was discovered.
Foul play is not suspected. A medical condition is being blamed for his death.
Mr. Guy’s dog was found alive and well and turned over to the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.
SIOUX FALLS MAN ARRESTED AS PART OF AN EXTENSIVE CHILD PORNOGRAPHY INVESTIGATION
Yesterday 37-year-old Joshua Lugert of Sioux Falls was arrested and charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography at his westside residence without incident.
According to Sioux Falls Police Sargeant Mick Butler, the arrest was part of an ongoing, very extensive, cooperative multi-agency investigation. Any information concerning suspicion of child sexual exploitation should be reported to the cyber tip line or at 1-800-843-5678.
OFFICERS TAKE A DANGEROUS SITUATION TURN IT INTO A PEACEFUL CONCLUSION
At 11 o’clock last night a man in from of the Law Enforcement Center with a gun said he was going to shoot.
Sargeant Butler said officers were able to utilize their Crisis Intervention Training to de-escalate the situation and recognize the potential for mental illness.
The subject was given the proper treatment.
“This was a good example of the officer’s putting to use the training they’re provided and bringing a peaceful conclusion to a dangerous incident,” said Butler.
