SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A 78-year-old woman is dead after a two vehicle crash Friday afternoon in southeastern Sioux Falls.
Sioux Falls Police say that a four door sedan was traveling north on Southeastern Avenue when it collided with another sedan at the intersection with E. Buckingham Street.
The northbound vehicle was occupied by four juveniles.
Authorities say that none of the juveniles were seriously injured.
The vehicle entering the intersection was occupied by the 78-year-old woman.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
While alcohol or drugs do not appear to be involved, authorities are investigating the scene to determine whether speed played a factor in the fatal crash.
The crash shut down a portion of Southeastern Avenue for several hours Friday evening as information was gathered and the scene was cleared.
Charges are currently pending completion of the investigation.
