SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls Police are investigating an incident that triggered and hours-long standoff this morning in central Sioux Falls.
Police arrested Jared Hamilton, 25, after he allegedly brandished a knife at two victims. The victims fled, leaving Hamilton in a residence near West 22nd Street and South Prairie Avenue.
The city’s SWAT team arrived and authorities asked Hamilton to surrender.
He eventually did without further incident.
No one was harmed in the standoff.

Sioux Falls, South Dakota: On 8/5/19 at 0733, Officers were dispatched to a residence near the intersection of W. 22nd and S. Prairie Ave for a possible weapons violation. Responding Officers discovered that an assault had taken place and that a knife had been brandished in the course of the assault. Both victims, were able to flee the residence with the suspect remaining inside. Numerous attempts were made to contact the suspect to come out of the residence but the suspect continued to refuse. As a result, the Sioux Falls Police Dept. SWAT team and Crisis Negotiation Unit responded to resolve the incident. The suspect was ultimately located in the residence and safely apprehended without major incident or injury. Arrested was Jared Hamilton age 25. for Aggravated Assault Domestic. Investigation is ongoing more information available at future press briefings.
