SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — One person was arrested on several charges Sunday morning.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Sioux Empire Fairgrounds just before 3 Sunday morning.
They found a man trying to get into the bunkhouses of the carnival employees.
Jamaal Akeem McReynolds, Sr. fled the scene but was captured with the help of a K-9 officer inside the quarry.

On 08/11/2019 at approximately 2:55 a.m., the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Sioux Empire Fairgrounds for a report of a male, later identified as Jamaal Akeem McReynolds Sr., who was attempting to enter the carnival employees’ bunkhouses. Upon arrival, deputies confronted McReynolds, who fled westbound toward the quarry. McReynolds then leaped over the fence surrounding the quarry and continued into the quarry. A short time later, McReynolds was spotted running around at the bottom of the quarry.
Members of the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office and the Sioux Falls Police Department entered the quarry where they encountered McReynolds. He was given commands in order to be taken into custody, but he continued to flee while refusing commands. A Sioux Falls Police Department K-9 Officer was on scene and the K-9 was utilized in order to take McReynolds into custody. Medical attention was given to McReynolds due to his encounter with the K-9. McReynolds was arrested for charges relating to 1st-degree burglary, obstruction and criminal trespass.
