SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Thousands of college graduates across the country took public-service jobs or went into the military in order to qualify for student loan forgiveness down the road.
Now, a decade after the federal program was started, a vast percentage of those who qualify are not receiving relief.In the latest package from South Dakota News Watch, the final installment in our college debt series, reporter Nick Lowrey shows why hopes for debt relief are dimming for South Dakota borrowers, and how some now owe more principal than when they got the loans.
