RAPID CITY, S.D. (KELO.com) — Senator Mike Round’s Republican primary opponent, Scyller Borglum, has announced her “Wooden Nickel Plan.”
It would require a national referendum for major increases in deficit spending.
“If we decide, as a federal body, to increased discretionary spending more than five percent of the previous year’s amount, it will automatically trigger a national vote.” says Borglum in a Facebook video.
“Wooden Nickel” is from the old expression, “don’t pick up any wooden nickels,” meaning being fooled by something.
Senator Rounds has not yet officially announced he’s running for re-election, but its a strong bet.
