LAKE CITY, S.D.—Are the historic buildings at Fort Sisseton State Park haunted with ghosts?
That’s what ghost hunters attempted to find out last weekend.
They joined a team of ghost hunters from Nebraska to tour the many buildings on the park grounds on Saturday and Sunday nights.
Park Manager Ali Tonsfeldt says there have been rumors for years of paranormal activity there.
She wasn’t sure how many ghost hunters would sign up for this event, but the number exceeded her expectations.
Tonsfeldt led one of the ghost hunting groups through the buildings. They were equipped with audio recorders, infrared cameras, laser lights and sensors that detect energy…..but did they find or see anything?
Tonsfeldt said they saw a shadow of what looked like an 8 to 10-year-old boy. That’s been rumored, she said, since the 1940s.
The cost for each ghost hunter to participate was $45. Money raised will go toward renovating the buildings at the park.
Tonsfeldt says they might do another ghost hunting expedition next year, possibly around Labor Day.
