ALEXANDRIA, S.D. (KELO.com) — Hanson County, located between Mitchell and Salem, is experiencing flooding.
Hanson County Emergency Manager Kevin Kayser says “It’s flooding, flooding, flooding. We’re seeing flooding where it’s never flooded before.”
He says the county has received between 10 and 14 inches of rain.
“There’s no straight shot of any road in the county without a detour,” Hanson said.
Because of flooding last night and early this morning, it took Kayser five hours to go from Pierre to Mitchell, a trip that normally takes about three hours.
However, Kayser says the flooding is not worse than it was this spring–yet.
