SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson says in fundraising email today that he is the most local freshman Congressman in Washington.
He cites, in quotations, an unnamed source about his rating:
- ‘“Leading the freshman class in receiving the greatest share of itemized contributions from their constituents was Republican Rep. Dusty Johnson. Over 94% of Johnson’s itemized contributions came from people living within his district.”’
Johnson compares himself to Democratic freshman House member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez:
- “Yes, it’s true. Although Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) received less than 1% of her donations from within her district, I was at the other end of the spectrum:”
Johnson hasn’t formally announced he is running but says, “Next year’s elections are approaching fast, and we’re making preparations to run well.”

We’ve got some big news: We‘ve been named the “most local” Congressman in the country.
Yes, it’s true. Although Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) received less than 1% of her donations from within her district, I was at the other end of the spectrum:
“Leading the freshman class in receiving the greatest share of itemized contributions from their constituents was Republican Rep. Dusty Johnson. Over 94% of Johnson’s itemized contributions came from people living within his district.”
Donations from South Dakotans are an indication of what the people I represent think about the job I’m doing.
I hope I can count on the continued support of South Dakotans. Please consider making a donation today. Simply click here to donate online.
Next year’s elections are approaching fast, and we’re making preparations to run well.
Thanks,
Dusty Johnson
