SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — South Dakota residents saw an uptick in personal income during the second quarter of 2019, though their income growth is smaller than the United States as a whole.
Personal income in South Dakota increased by 1.3% in the second quarter of 2019 compared to quarter one. Nationwide income increased by 5.4% over the same period, according to a release from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
A tough quarter for farming was one of the reasons South Dakota didn’t grow quite as fast as the rest of the country.
For the United States as a whole, professional, scientific and technical services; finance and insurance; and state and local government were the leading contributors to overall growth in earnings.
North Dakota’s personal income was unchanged, per the report.
