SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO.com) — A 93-year-old volunteer librarian at South Dakota State just received an honor by the state’s library association.
Bob Bartling has curated a library dedicated to running for over 40 years and moved his collection to SDSU in 2015. He keeps it organized with a special set of over 6,000 hand-printed index cards.
Bartling was named a Friend of the Library by the South Dakota Library Association. He found out about the honor when library staff and friends surprised him at work.
Bartling’s Prairie Striders Collection started in 1978 and features 700 volumes of books and 5,000 periodicals and newsletters.
